What is telehealth?

Telehealth seeks to improve a patient’s health by permitting two-way, real time interactive communication between the patient, and the practitioner at the distant location. This electronic communication uses different forms of interactive telecommunications equipment that includes, at a minimum, audio and/or video equipment.

This gives patients the freedom to receive treatment without needing to be physically present with their clinician.

What do I need to use telehealth at NCBI?

  • A confirmed appointment with a clinician for the date and time to call for the telehealth visit.
  • A communication device like a smartphone, tablet or personal computer for online video calls.
